A moment of living in the Kenangan Hotel (Trengganu)

The last trip to Kuala Trengganu, we had stayed two days in Kenangan Hotel which is located in the middle of Trengganu city. Before arriving there, everyone had imagined and depicted of the Kenangan Hotel looks like. Soon after reaching there, we noticed on the wall of the building that was written “Kenangan Hotel”. The building was quite long built and old but it was equal if we consider the quality and the price. As soon as we get there, we quickly took our bags from the bus to the hotel for checking in. The hotel inside was dark and messy that making us felt unsafe. The counter was too small and the space for walking to the room was also very small. We took the lift to reach the third floor where our rooms are there. The lift looked very old and unsafe. There was a bad smell like the smell of an old building. Some times the lift did not work and did not open the door that makes us feel fear to use it again. However, after we open the door of our room, we felt so scare and fear of something because it was gloom, dark and bad smell like someone is smoking there. When we turn on the light, fan TV and open the windows, we felt better. After we took a rest for a moment, I went to bathroom to take a bath but it had no emotion to live in because the toilet was quite messy and unclean. The water came in yellow or a little bit brown and the shower did not work. After taking bath, I stood at the window to look around the hotel; I felt that it was so silence. There were not many people stay there. Anyhow, we stayed in the hotel just only at night because we mostly spent our time on travelling and shopping.  (written by Hakeem Tanor)

My Trip To Taman Tamaddun Islam (TTI) or Islamic Civilization Park

One thing that should not be forgotten for the trip to Kuala Trengganu is visiting to Taman Tamaddun Islam (TTI) or Islamic Civilization Park. The street to the Civilization Park is not too wide and crowd. Beside the street has been planted with hundred of trees that is very green and secure and peaceful. Moving from Kenangan Hotel to TTI is not so far that we spend about twenty minutes to reach there. I never know before what and how the TTI looks like. What I have imagined is something as a museum which is built in the middle of Trengganu city, high building, crowd of visiting people, a lot of noises and thriving technology must be available there. But the reality, the TTI seems to be a quite place. It might be because of raining that there are very few visitors appear. The raining is the big obstacle for me in this trip, that is raining almost a whole day.
However, when I and my classmates arrive at the TTI, we need to do for first is to stamp the particular passport for only in that park which the TTI officer will give us to get in. Nothing I feel interested while I am looking around which is outside the wall of TTI. As soon as getting in, my reflection is that it is amazing place that we can see on the higher land with beautiful standing of several duplicative mosques around the world. First we can see the duplication of Al-aqsor and Taj Mahal which is standing on higher ground. Mini train and mini electric cars bring us to visit to every duplicative mosque one by one. When standing on the duplicative building and looking around, we can see a very beautiful view which has the river around the park, and we can see the city across of the river. When looking around in the park, we will see the appearances of so many duplicative mosques are built surrounding the park. The feeling of visiting the buildings likes we have seen the real or original building of the mosques around the world because it really looks a like.
Anyway, we have seen and got the new knowledge about the all building such the National Mosque of Malaysia, Kudus Minar or Central Java Mosque of Indonesia, Pattani Central Mosque of Thailand, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque of Brunei, Taj Mahal of India, Badshali Mosque of Pakistan, Al-aqsor Mosque of Palestine, Great Mosque -Samarra of Iraq, Sheikh Lutfallah Mosque of Iran, Abu Nasr Parsa Mosque of Afghanistan, Al-Haram Mosque or Mecca Mosque of Saudi Arabia, Aleppo Citadel Mosque of Syria, Mohammed Ali Mosque of Egypt, Nabawi Mosque of Madinah Saudi Arabia, Suleyman Mosque of Turkey,        Qairawan Mosque of Tnisia, Palace of Al-Hambra Granada of Spain, Kalyan Minaret Mosque of Uzbekistan, Great Mosque of Agadez Nigar, Kul Sharif  Mosque of Russia and the Xian Mosque in China.
Of cause the big activity for us in the park is taking photos. After finish visiting all of building, it seems to be so tired for us that need to rebuild some energy or having lunch. After a while, the lunch is began which heavy meal and a glass of juice. Seating near the river which is breeze continuously facing our body, while we are having lunch, is very nice time. Nearby is the Crystal Mosque which is one of the very beautiful Mosque -sitting near the river- that I have ever seen before and it is where we pray after the big meal or lunch.     written by keem (16/1/2011)

Trip to Trat

The first time to visit Trat province for taking part the religious youth service camp from 26-30, October, 2552 seems to be fortunate chance for me. The camp which included the believers in various religions – Buddhist, Christianity, Islam and no religion- and also divers nationality, Thai, Malaysian, Japanese, Philippines and Taiwanese is the prominent point of the camp.

Anyhow, my first depict the province as under developed province --where there are a lot of trees, green gardens, paddy fields and high mountains. It is also imaged as Trat is a poor and infamous province in term of travelling place --where no foreigners have gone and visited.

But when we reach there, it surprises me. It never be as what I imagine especially after a guide explains us that  Trat is  a small province at the eastern-most frontier bordering on Cambodia with the Khao Banthat mountain range forming a natural demarcation, Trat is a resort town with over fifty large and small off-shore islands, long white sandy beaches and unspoiled coral ranges. It is also a major fruit-growing and fishing area. About 315km from Bangkok and covering an area of 2,819 square kilometres, the province is administratively divided into the districts of Mueang Trat, Khao Saming, Laem Ngop, Khlong Yai and Bo Rai, and the sub-districts of  Ko Chang (Chang Island) and Ko Kut (Kut Island) .

Because of the first travelling to Trat, hence I can not correctly depict the reality of this province is and I never think concerning the sea and beaches before. Actually this province is really interesting. We are divided into ten groups when we are at Bangkok-- each group is contained 10 people that different institution, gander, religion and nationality. Soon after we take ten buss to Trat together in groups that  have been divided. The dialogs during the way is seemed to be the first for us to greet, introduce and learn to each others, and our relationship is beginning. As soon as we reach Trad, I notice people in the province live in simple way which is friendly, nice and helpful. Trat has many beautiful and interesting islands and beaches that it can see when we are on the ferry to cross to Chang Island where our camp be made. The big ferry containing a lot of peoples and vehicles on the first floor is slowly heading into the middle of the wide sea while we enjoin talking and looking around the beautiful of natural creation. After one hour, the ferry reaches the harbor of the island.

The warmly welcoming of the villagers and staff s that carrying garlands or flowery tassel makes us happy and proud for this trip. Because of the very nice and helpful of staffs and people there, we can run the program properly and successfully. The place where we make the camp is quite peace and tranquil --where the resort or bungalow is located near the beach, breezy wind is cool, the crying of the weaves reach the shore and stone  has been playing-- being nice and romantic. It is fortunately for people living on the island because of the completeness and repleteness of the beaches, mangrove and forests.  The most interesting of this camp is to be brought visiting around the island by fishing boats. Swimming, skiing, fishing and diving to see aquatic animals are the final activity and it becomes the new experience for some of us that have never experienced it since that day.

However, we mostly stay on the island thus many things on the main land we can not learn more -- just visiting mosque, temple and church within one day but what we have seen is people are very nice, friendly and strictly regarding religious believing especially Muslim. Unluckily that the camp is held only six days otherwise many things can be seen and learned by us.   writen by Keem (13/1/2011)

Trip to Kaula Terrenganu

                                                                   Kaula Terrenganu
At the first place, we depict Malaysia as one of thriving countries—where were brilliantly conceive many high-rise building, systematic transportation, and vibrant city.

For this trip was headed to Kaula Terrenganu where the city is located near East coast of Malaysia. The people live their lives in the simple way. The streets were not too wide on which a few cars and bikes were running on the city seemed wholly peaceful and tranquil.
Soon after arriving at Kenangan Hotel, our reflection upon the hotel was that it was long-established and enduring, and stood stably in the heart of the city. We stayed happily and comfortably because of being quite homely.

At our over-simplified picture, Kaula Terengganu was fascinating and appealing city, but unprecedented circumstance that we never expected before was teenage gang of street motor racing. It is said it becomes common for the teenagers here to have such race on the street on evenings.

The embarrassing event in my past life

(First semester of third year 2552/2009)

I do believe that everyone has experienced the embarrassing event in their lives. The different people have different embarrassing stories, so I also have a lot of experiences about this. But the most unforgettable embarrassing experience is still in my memory.
Once, I remembered when I was in primary school especially in Matyom four or (Form four),I always cried when I had to go to school. I normally wore a short gray pants to school but when I was Matyom four, my father forced me to wear a long black pants to school. It was impossible and very difficult to do. Since all of students wore the short gray pants, so how could I be a stranger. Then, I told to my father that I could not wear because no one wore it. I was afraid the teachers would scold me and I was shy to meet my friends. I was worried so much. He did not understand my feeling. He still forced me to do it. I thought he did not love me. In fact, not only me, he also forced my sister to wear Hijaab.

That morning after taking bath, I and my sister felt so sad and stressful to be pioneer this new dress. We cried and cried to give him many reasons again. However, he did not care and did not accept our reasons. So we just had to obey him. After that, we planed to do some thing. We rode the bicycle to school.  On the way, we stopped at a quiet place where there was nobody.  I took my long black pants out and kept it in the bag because I wore the short gray pants inside. My sister also took hers Hijaab off and put in hers bag. Then, we went to school. We did like this for many days. When we went home, we always told him lies.

One day, my father  was suspecting us. He did not believe that we followed his command, so he asked some our friends about us in the school. Later, he found out truth and immediately came to us and punished us. We were so hurt and ill. The next morning, we were happy because it was Saturday and Sunday that our school closed. We had to study Tadika ( Islamic school ) on those  days. We did not need to worry about the uniform because we wore anything we want. We were not like a stranger. Then, the two happy days passed and the sadness day came. We could not do the same because my short gray pants were burned by him. We cried before going to school. However, we could not do anything. Then, we went to school and we had planed again and again to be far from people. So we stopped at the jungle and we decided to stay there. We planed to skip the  classes. We    were not brave enough to   face all of people. We cried again and again in the jungle. We had got food with us that we always bring for lunch at school. Then, we had it for lunch with no water. We even prayed in the jungle. My father taught us to pray five times a day, so we always did it. While others were studying in the classes, we were studying in the jungle. My sister taught me the lessons. When the students went home, we also went home. We did it again three days and lied him many times.
Later, he knew again that we were laying him. He was very angry. He beat us badly, so we were very hurtful and cried very loud. But luckily, my mother  had stopped him. I saw she cried while she was looking us, but my father forbade her to help us.  Soon after, he shouted us to leave home. We feared him so much.  I and my sister could not stand up because we were so hurtful, but we tried till we could stand up at the end. Then, we left our home with crying and without having any food with us, but I did not want to eat anything. We walked about one kilometer and half to get our grandmother’s house.  We were very tired, hungry and hurtful. So we could not walk well. I did not understand why my father did with us like that. I told to my sister that our father did not love us like our fried’s’ fathers. She agreed with me. After we left home and arrived at grandmother’s house, she asked us about what happened to us.

Then, we explained to her the event. We slept there at the night and I got sick. Next morning, we did not go home. We were still there. Later, my father had visited us and took us back. He cried when he saw  that we were so poor. I had to continue sleeping at home because I  was sick. Then, he persuaded my sister to my bed with him. He told all the reasons about what he had done with us. He said that he himself did not order to wear Hijaab and long pants but Allah. Whoever did not follow Allah he or she will be in the fire. After we had heard the reasons, we felt fear. So next day morning, we faced everyone in the school brazenly. We wore like   stranger. Everyone looked at us surprisingly. Some of then were laughing  at us when Buddhist teachers scolded  us.

Sometimes I felt hopeless but we had to be patient and combative. We were the strangers  for two week. After that, there was a Muslim teacher encouraged us. Later, we persuaded    our friends to wear like us. Then, our friends slowly wore like us. I felt very happy. I told myself that “ I need not to worry about it from now on” because there were maybe thirty students followed us. After that, it was a hot issue  in the school. Then, it was discussed by  the government. Finally, it was allowed towear long pans and Hijaab in the school whole of my   province. After I had finished the big work, I could see proudly-  muslin students in Primary schools wore long  pants and Hijaab in their school-. (written by keem)

The memorable in my life

(First semester of third year 2552/2009)

Assalamualikum warohmatullah wabarokatuh, Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah and teacher to give me chance to write something of my interesting in my life.  I am proud to write for you-readers- an interesting story in my life. It is about the wonderful of rainy season in my childhood. You know? The rainy season in my childhood was unforgettable memory for me. Before you will continue reading, I want you to close your eyes, breathe in and breathe out about three times, make your mind peace and imagine as you are in the situation.

Well, I like to imagine so much which what I have seen, even where I am. One unforgettable remembering in my childhood which will be in my memory forever was sitting at the window, looking  at the  rain through out the old wooden window and starting making stories in my mind. The rain had continued  falling heavily. It fell on the roof and on some items became music “ tik tak tik tak ting teng ting teng…” The frogs were happily singing “ erng arng erng arng, krak krak..” for thanking the almighty God.

I was looking around my house which fully floods of water. Suddenly, the wind faced me coolly and I saw the birds were still enjoying flying in the rain. Then, I started crying in my mind “ friend  friend, where are you? I miss you all, what are you doing? Are you ok? Have you had thinking about me as I am thinking about you now? Friends friends ” I cried. I would miss all of my friends especially the friends which left me for along time. Then, my eyes slowly closed and started tears. And then, my lovely cat which is white and blue eyes came and sat near me and I took her on my lap with warmly. Again I started tears and talked to her sadly “ I miss my friends. ” I wanted them to be with me here to look the beautiful view – with the three were dancing while getting rain and wind, the road became river, the sea became stronger wave and louder crying, chickens being group under the house to make warmness, the sky was cloud, the mountain was unclear sight and farer, the rain’s sound was more beautiful and sweet and every thing was more powerful than usually. ” When I stopped talking to her, my grand mother lulled my sister to sleep by singing “la illa ha illallah Muhammadarrasulullah…” It was fancy and made me sleepy and slept at the end.

After the rain stopped, I waked up happily in the evening. The several kinds of bird were singing and made sweetly and beautifully voice seemed there were out side nest for finding food. The frogs did the same -continued crying. The chicken also went out side for searching food. When I waked up, I saw the cat was sleeping with me but seemed she was lazy to wake up. She had been with me since it was raining until stopped. I did not want her to wake up. I let her continue sleeping. After that, I was quickly went out to meet my friends because  I missed my friends so much. Immediately, the cat quickly came to me, it was so surprise and looked she would go with me. But I told to her “ you can not go, I want to meet my friends, I want to go so far and you have to be at home with my sister ok?” Then she went back sadly. However my friends were so happy to see me too. Then we went for fishing. We had an old boat  with us and we had caught  a lot of fish. We paddled slowly to find some more fish and birds. I was very enjoy. Next, the wind faced us softly and started rain again but we did not care. We were still for enjoyment and we were happy with the getting rain. The rain was stronger and made a lot of water in the boat, so we paddled slowly to go home. You see how interesting  and enjoyable I was before. But now it is only in my memory. I can not return it again. I just imagine the old enjoyable story. I like to look at the rain In any where and any time I have been. When I remember the old story, it’ll always start tear. Assignment

From the Portrait 7
A warm family which contains three members living in an old wooden house, parents and a daughter, looks like Malay people in three southern provinces of Thailand or people at northern state of Malaysia. Their house also looks like Malay style which is made from wood and it is located near the river which the water can run and smoothly wave under the building. So everything is completely understood as Thai or Malaysia Malay people which considering their dressing that is the most conspicuous. The husband which is the head of the family named Mustofa, he wears a white cap which is called in Malay “ Kapiah”, and he wears an old blue shirt and a long colorful clothes called “Sarong” in Malay. It is common and suitable dress for him. He looks very nice and friendly that we can notice at his clean, bright face and a nice smile. He has a medium shape which is thin and 170 cm tall. His age is probably about 45 years old but still strong and healthful. He is a fisherman working in the river behind the house. Beside him is his wife named Rokaiah. She wears a common dress, white shirt and brown long Sarong and closes hers head with a piece of white clothes. Hers body is quite fat and unhealthful. She is medium age which is 40 years old now and 160 cm tall. She can not walk and stand so well because she got an accident last two years which was crashed by a careless drunk driver’s car.  But she looks very friendly which a nice bright face and a nice smile. Bothe of them, Mustofa and Rokaiah, have got a daughter named Sofiah, a pretty and beautiful young girl. She has a medium shape which is thin and 155 cm tall. She has brown eyes, black long straight hair, pink lips, beautiful white teeth and bright skin. She is now 18 years old being a high school student class 5. They took this photo to be memorable, after having breakfast in the morning around 7 o’clock while they are sending their daughter to school. Actually the people in the picture are not Malay people from three southern provinces of Thailand or northern state of Malaysia, but it is a family in Kampong Cham, Kampong means province in Cambodia. We might call them “Cambodians Malay” because there are a lot of people in the province communicate in Malay language. Cambodians had a long history and relationship with people in Nusantara , called Malay area or nationality of Malay, in old period for being also Cambodian Malay in their country. This family is a Muslim family because the majority of this province are Malay Cambodians and believe in Islam like our old generation understood and acquired that “ Malayu is Islam and Islam is Malayu”.
